🌀 How I Ran My Instagram Reel as an Ad from Facebook Ad Account (Updated 2025 Guide)
Running Instagram ads can feel like a maze sometimes — especially when you're trying to promote a Reel you already uploaded on your Instagram page. I recently figured it out after facing a bunch of confusing options inside Facebook Ads Manager. So if you’re stuck at “Try Boosting Again” or not sure where the “Post Engagement” option disappeared — this post is for you!
Let me walk you through exactly how I did it — step by step — using the new Meta interface.
🔍 Problem I Faced
I wanted to run an Instagram Reel Ad (a video I already uploaded to my page), but:
-
Facebook showed me options like "Manual Engagement Campaign" instead of the old “Post Engagement” objective.
-
My ad drafts kept disappearing when the currency was updated.
-
I couldn’t find where to use my existing Reel in the new setup.
After trial, error, and some digging — here's what worked for me 👇
✅ Step-by-Step: How to Promote Your Instagram Reel via Facebook Ads Manager (2025)
🔸 Step 1: Go to Ads Manager
Link: facebook.com/adsmanager
Click on the green “Create” button.
🔸 Step 2: Choose “Engagement” Objective
You’ll be asked:
What do you want to optimize for?
Choose:
Manual Engagement Campaign
(This gives full control and lets you promote your own post)
Click Continue
🔸 Step 3: Campaign Settings
-
Give your campaign a name (e.g. “July Decor Reel Ad”)
-
Leave “Advantage campaign budget” OFF if you’re only running one ad set
Click Next
🔸 Step 4: Ad Set Settings (Targeting & Budget)
Set your:
-
Daily Budget: ₹300–₹500 (as per comfort)
-
Schedule: Set start and end dates
Choose your audience:
-
Age: 25–55
-
Location: India (or country of your market)
-
Interests: Home decor, interior design, vastu, hotel & resort owners, etc.
Click Manual Placements
Only keep:
-
✅ Instagram Reels
-
✅ Instagram Feed (optional)
-
✅ Instagram Explore (optional)
Click Next
🔸 Step 5: Ad Settings (Where Magic Happens ✨)
This is where you’ll finally attach your existing Instagram Reel.
-
Under “Ad Setup,” choose:
🔘 Use Existing Post
-
Click “Select Post”
-
Switch to the Instagram tab and choose the Reel you want to promote
-
Click Continue
🔸 Optional: Add CTA Button
If you want people to take action:
-
Send Message (for WhatsApp or Instagram DM)
-
Learn More (for product link or website)
🔸 Step 6: Publish & Go Live
Click Publish, and your Reel Ad will go into review. Usually approved within 1–4 hours.
🧩 Important Things I Learned
-
You can’t change the currency of an ad account once created — you have to make a new one if you want to switch.
-
Reels using copyrighted music often won’t be eligible for ads — better to use original audio or royalty-free music.
-
Always connect your Instagram account to your Facebook Page inside Meta Business Suite.
💡 Final Thoughts
I know how frustrating it feels when tech platforms change things around, but once I figured out the new way to use existing Instagram Reels as ads, it became so much easier to repeat.
