• My printer would print Notepad files and test pages just fine — but only once after restarting the spooler.

I followed all the usual tricks — restarting the Print Spooler, clearing the spool folder, reinstalling drivers — but the issue kept coming back… until I spotted the pattern.

🎯 The Real Culprit? Microsoft Edge and Its PDF Rendering

After some testing, I discovered:

• Printing PDFs from Microsoft Edge = error.

• Printing the same PDF from Google Chrome = success.

So, it wasn’t the file or the printer. It was the way Edge renders PDF files and sends them to the printer — something that doesn’t sit well with certain older printers like mine.

If you're facing the same issue, try these steps in order:

✅ 1. Stop Using Edge to Print PDFs

As much as I like Edge for browsing, I had to ditch it for PDF printing. Instead:

• Right-click your PDF > Open with > Google Chrome.

• Press Ctrl + P and print from there.

• It worked flawlessly, every time!

✅ 2. Change Your Default PDF Viewer

So you don’t accidentally open PDFs in Edge again:

1. Right-click any .pdf file.

2. Choose Open with > Choose another app.

3. Select Google Chrome (or Adobe Reader).

✅ 3. Tweak Edge Settings (Optional)

If you really need to keep using Edge:

• Go to Edge Settings > System and performance.

• Turn off:

Technology should save time, not eat it up in troubleshooting loops. For me, the solution was as simple as changing my default PDF viewer to Chrome — and now I can print without frustration.
